BIM 360 Glue Is Sunsetting — Here’s What You Need to Know (and Do) Before July 2026
If you opened your inbox this week to an email from Autodesk about BIM 360 Glue, you’re not alone, and if you haven’t read it yet, this is your sign to pay attention.
Autodesk is officially discontinuing BIM 360 Glue, with full shutdown after July 31, 2026.
The good news? The key capabilities you rely on aren’t disappearing. They have been rebuilt and improved inside Autodesk Construction Cloud’s Model Coordination. The transition path is clear, and the tools to get there are already available. But the clock is ticking, and waiting until the last minute is a recipe for headaches.
Why Is Autodesk Doing This?
This move is part of Autodesk’s broader strategy to consolidate everything under the Autodesk Construction Cloud umbrella. Rather than maintaining parallel platforms, they’ve invested in bringing BIM 360 Glue’s core functionality, model aggregation, clash detection, and coordination workflows directly into ACC’s Model Coordination.
For teams already working in ACC, this simplifies your tech stack. For teams still running projects in Glue, it’s time to start planning your move.
What You Need to Do Right Now
1. Audit Your Glue Projects
Start by taking stock of what you have. Review both active and archived projects in BIM 360 Glue. Identify which projects need to be migrated and which can simply be archived in Model Coordination for reference.
2. Begin Migrating Data
Autodesk has built a Data Transition tool directly into Glue that copies your model data over to Model Coordination. Don’t wait — start moving projects now so you have time to verify everything transferred correctly and your team can adapt to any workflow differences.
3. Stop Creating New Projects in Glue
If you’re an account admin, disable new project creation in BIM 360 Glue now. Every new project started in Glue is one more project you’ll have to migrate later. Rip the band-aid off and start new work in Model Coordination.
4. Check Your Navisworks and Point Layout Access
This is the one that catches people off guard. If your Navisworks Manage or Autodesk Point Layout access comes through your BIM 360 Glue entitlements, that access ends after July 31, 2026. You’ll need to secure standalone licenses or alternative entitlements before the cutoff.
The Silver Lining
If you’re already on Autodesk BIM Collaborate, BIM Collaborate Pro, Navisworks Manage, or the Model Management Bundle, Model Coordination is included in your existing subscription. There’s no additional cost to make this transition and it’s already part of what you’re paying for.
Model Coordination in ACC also brings benefits over the legacy Glue platform: tighter integration with other ACC modules, improved collaboration tools, and a platform that’s actively being developed rather than maintained.
Don’t Sleep on This
July 2026 sounds far away, but anyone who’s been through a platform migration on an active construction project knows that “plenty of time” evaporates fast. The best time to start your transition is now — while there’s no pressure and you can test workflows before they become critical path.
